Description

At Greenwood Court, building capacity through Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) champions has been a key strategy in strengthening staff engagement and advancing evidence-based practice implementation. Greenwood Court has focused on developing leadership skills, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing staff participation in Best Practice Guideline (BPG) initiatives to improve resident outcomes and quality of care.
Several strategies were implemented to support and engage champions throughout the home. Staff were provided with opportunities to participate in BPSO Champion training to strengthen their knowledge and confidence in evidence-based practices. Committee champions were also established to encourage shared accountability, peer support, and ongoing communication within teams. Champion feedback played an important role in driving practice improvements, particularly within the bathing program, where initiatives focused on enhancing resident satisfaction, dignity, and overall well-being. In addition, proactive skin care practices were introduced to improve skin health outcomes and support a more person-centered approach to care delivery.
Building internal capacity through education and mentorship was another priority within the home. Greenwood Court supported continued professional development through Train-the-Trainer opportunities, enabling our champions to share knowledge and mentor colleagues within their practice areas. These trainers also facilitated the first in-person workshop to strengthen collaboration, engagement, and knowledge among staff. Partnerships within leadership further supported access to continuing education opportunities.
Capacity building was further strengthened through participation in the Advanced Clinical Practice Fellowship (ACPF) experience. Collaboration with both internal and external partners supported the evidence-based practices and the evaluation of outcomes. Study findings and results were shared with teams to promote continuous quality improvement, strengthen clinical practice, and sustain a culture of evidence-informed, person-centered care throughout the home.
